Geographical Skills
Asking good 'geographic questions'Almost always my lessons utilise an element of enquiry based learning. It is therefore very important that my students ask good questions. This power point and supporting sheet guide students through what I feel makes a good geographic question. There is plenty of opportunity to pause and assess the quality of questions being generated against the criteria stipulated in the power point.

Image AnalysisImages are such powerful resources in Geography but need to be used properly. This sheet helps students analyse the geography of images in depth making them think about how the image could change, how it has changed and what could be present that we cannot see.

Diamond 9I use this sheet when completing diamond 9s with my classes. Diamond 9s are great for analysing cause and effect or evaluating solutions. The most and least labels on this sheet are blank so you can put your own criteria in e.g. most sustainable / damaging / cost effective. There is also space for students to justify their decisions, a worthwhile extension to any diamond 9.
Balanced ArgumentsAn incredibly important skill from Key Stage 3 to A Level. This sheet will help students formulate balanced arguments. It can be used as a plan for longer pieces of writing or as the end product in its own right.
